Here are three insights shared by Tim Keller in a luncheon I attended several years ago:
- Young preachers spend too much time on sermons and not enough time with people.
- Arguing with your wife about ministry makes it “our ministry.”
- Prayer life is critical, evening and morning.
Let’s heed this wisdom.

Totally get #1 and #3! Although repentance is still forthcoming.
Explain #2 a bit. I’m not sure where it’s going.

His larger point with #2 was that when you double yourself, you double your wisdom, when we get married we can be enriched with the wisdom of our spouses. Keller shared stories of debating about philosophy of ministry, counseling, etc with his wife and pointed out where his wife’s perspective has consistently enriched and corrected his own thoughts on various matters. Not only was the church blessed by better thinking and practice, their marriage has been enriched by arguing things through, making Redeemer their ministry and not just Tim’s ministry.

Yes! I wasn’t sure if he was saying it was a good or bad thing. My wife’s wisdom is absolutely critical.
