John Simons
Jonathan -
I downloaded the sermon and listened to it. I thought that it was well done. As someone who tends to be more focused on the right doctrine, it is good to hear the importance of balancing between doctrine and experience.
I would be interested to hear more about your preaching/teaching philosophy, since you said that the sermon was atypical. You said that you typically teach verse by verse. Does that translate to verse by verse through a book of the Bible, or just verse by verse within the passage that you are teaching from on a particular Sunday.

Thanks, John. Glad to hear it was helpful.
I preach expositorally, if thats a word, typically taking a book at a time and working through verse by verse. I try to move from Text to Theology to Culture, bridging the gap between the historical-cultural millieu of the ancient and contemporary worlds.
Tim Keller is a preacher I admire and his notes on preaching have been incredibly helpful. I have also been influenced by Michael Quicke’s 360 Degree Preaching.
Best to you in Florida!
